Club2Class Boat Class Curation

Club2Class maintains and curates lists of popular boat classes and rating systems. In this way club and class administrators can easily create classes containing boats of different boat classes and race series that can use a curated ratings system.

As an example, a club adminsistrator may create a new class called 'Fast Asymmetrics Class' and add boats with boat classes such as the "RS 800" and "49er" to that class. These boat classes already exist within Club2Class. A race series can now be created for the 'Fast Asymnetric Class' and set to be scored using the "PY (UK 2018)" rating system. This rating system also already exists within Club2Class.

In the above illustration "RS 800" is an example of a curated boat class that is maintained by Club2Class and available system wide for all club and class administrators.

Similarly, "PY (UK 2018)" is an example of a rating system that is maintained by Club2Class and available system wide for all club and class administrators.

By curating entities in this way Club2Class seeks to provide a straightforward and streamlined workflow for club and class adminsitrators everywhere.

Clearly, we cannot cater for every use case and so club administrators can also create custom boat classes and rating systems spcific to their club. In these cases it is still possible to interact with curated entities in some ways.

For example, a custom rating system created for a club can still use a curated boat class such as "RS 800" in its rating system.

However, the converse is not true. That is a custom boat class created by a club cannot be added to a curated rating system for obvious reasons. In this case it would be best to clone the curated rating system into a version specific to the club and then add a rating for the custom boat class.
